Have you checked the battery lights? Sounds like a failed battery. You can test it by removing the battery and running with just the adapter. If it works, it's the battery. If not it is probably a motherboard problem. You cannot update the bios without a working battery installed. I would use it without the battery instead of buying a new expensive battery.
I have the exact same problem. I had the diagnostic disk and ran the tests on the system and it tested the AC adapter and it checked out OK. I also gave me an error code of 4e36:0123 Cannot find out what that means. Any suggestions?
Thank you . I tried it without the battery and it works fine. I'll go ahead and get the battery because the owner does use it on battery power. Hopefully that will resolve the issue.

I received the new battery. Everything works great. NO more error messages and the Bios update worked.
Thanks
