Battery light blinking orange

My Latitude C600 has a low battery in it and the indicator light on the right hand side of the laptop is blikning orange.  Does this mean that the battery is shot, dead?

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
 
A blinking amber light on the system may indicate an overheated battery.  Please remove the battery from the system and leave it out for at least 30 minutes.  Please check the charge directly on the battery, using the button and lights on the battery.  If the lights on the battery flash repeatedly, or the battery light on the system continues flashing orange, then the battery should be replaced.
