Try a different AC adapter. If it works, you're all set. If it doesn't, the power jack or mainboard inside the system is faulty.

I'm having the same problem!!! I just bought a new battery because mine was completely dead. I put in the new battery, and it will not charge. If I jiggle the ac wire around it will work for like a minute, then it stops. It says its running on ac power even though the battery is only 33% charged and I don't know how to get it to charge. This is so frustrating!

If jiggling the connector works, try a new adapter. If that does the same thing, the power jack is faulty and the system board needs repair.

Thanks, it is just so annoying because I just spent over $500 to get my screen and keyboard fixed, then I get it back and a month later my battery is giving me trouble, then when I buy the new batter for almost $200 it still isn't working. Mean while, I already had to get a new AC adapter when I still had warrenty bc mine stopped working, and my battery was recalled so I had to get a new one of that. I am regretting my decision of ever purchasing a Dell.
