Bios Admin PWD reset
Well... since my last post was removed for posting service tag... it happens... I need to reset my ADMIN Bios PWD // i can log on and such, i just would like to modify my bios settings, as i am typing from the computer at the moment. -Model Number? Dell XPS/Inspiron Gen 1 (i really don't know, so any info on how to get to it i will then post it) i am the owner, can prove it... i am on the account for it, besides name and address Now i know there is a number to call, but i can't contact dell tech support because they won't talk to people unless they charge money. I just need a simple oh.... k thats your service tag..k......here is your backdoor password. and done. Now calling customer service doesn't seem like it would help.... im also sure that removing the CMOS doesn't work with this anymore... so there goes that. I also know that it is impossible to get your dell BIOS admin password reset without contacting DELL. -------- i would not like to pay anything... ty

The other option is to replace the mainboard.

You need to call Dell, verify you are the registered owner of the system and (if you're out of warranty) pay for a support call.

I agree with Jafar, pull the battery for a while, i have had some where 10 minute wasn't enough then put it back and restart. You may have to run a bios recovery, and update the bios back to the current version, but your password should be gone, then go into bios and enter a new one, or leave it blank.
Having said that do some searching for bios recovery and download the latest bios. With Intel boards there is a recovery jumper on the board. Do your preparation and you should be fine.

Removing the battery will do nothing - nor is there any recovery jumper.
