BIOS Setup Locked
I am restoring a Dell Latitude D830 laptop for a friend, and found the BIOS Setup is locked with a password. My friend has no recollection of a password ever being used, so no help there. I can get into the BIOS with the F2 key at startup, but cannot make any changes to it. The Administrator and HDD passwords are not set, just the Lock Setup. I have reloaded the OS and all works OK, but I would like to clear the BIOS Setup password. I've tried all the tips from Google searches, but nothing works. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks for the post, evserv. I have tried that site already, and the passwords generated do not work for me. My service tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> -3A5B, and I have tried with just the 7 characters and with all the characters. Any other advice appreciated.

RonM1962,
Contact Dell with proof of ownership. If out of warranty, there will be a fee.
This thread is locked. The answer to contact Dell is the correct answer.
If you need assistance, please create a new thread in the proper Dell Support Forum
Thank you
Rick
