BIOS update download options?
I've noticed this with a couple of Dell latitude models, and this is more of a gripe than a question, but...
I have a Latitude E6410. I wanted to update the BIOS to the latest BIOS (I currently have A02 version). So I go to the downloads section on Dell's website. They list two version available for download...A10 and A16. I download A16 and try to run it. It tells me I have to already have version A09 installed before it can update to A16. A09 isn't listed as an option to download from the list, so I try to run A10, but it says the same thing. If both A10 and A16 have a pre-requisite of A09, WHY doesn't dell include version A09 in the download list??? I know, I know...it's very simple to do a google search for "Latitude E6410 BIOS A09" and download it from the first google hit, but what is Dell thinking by not including this in the quick pick list on their download page if it's a pre-requisite? Their driver download pages have always baffled me with odd things like this.

Hi Jeff.Bobst,
Thank you for writing to Dell Community Forum.
I would suggest you click on the option called other versions available which is next to Version number and you can download the version you want and install on the system.
You may also click on the link http://dell.to/VfTebh and download the BIOS A09 version on the system.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply's, and as I mentioned in my post, it isn't hard to do a google search and find A09. It's just strange that Dell doesn't publish this right on their main driver page. I've seen this before with other models too I believe.

Hello NATAKUC4,
You seem to have links to many of the BIOS downloads for the Latitude e6410, so I will ask you this directly - is there any BIOS update available between A05 and A09? I have a Latitude e6410 with v. A05 and cannot install ANY version from A09 and up - I cannot find any BIOS version earlier than A09 and have tried everything to get an update to install. This seems to be a problem with the firmware in this (and other) Dell PCs, as I have had this exact problem before - it is usually fixed by being able to incrementally update the BIOS in sequence, but now, as in the past, I cannot find versions early enough to allow any update to occur. If you have links, I am looking for A06 through A08, I have already unsuccessfully tried A09 and up.
Thanks,
Andy
