BIOS update from bootable USB key

Question

Has anyone tried to use a bootable USB key to upgrade their BIOS?  It would seem easier to do than creating a bootable CD. I've created a bootable USB key that boots into the Win98 dos screen and want to copy the BIOS file to it and execute it.     Thanks,   Robert

As long as it is the unpackaged version of the BIOS it should work.  Not the hard drive version - that has to run out of Windows.

I booted from my USB Key drive the other day to fix a BIOS problem.

Johnallg - I did use the same file that one would normally double click from the desktop too and I had no problem from that. It's an executable file, so will work from a command prompt.

It will work IF your notebook supports booting from the USB key.  I will assume that yours will.  If it is an older notebook, then the answer is no.
