hi....yeah thats true i need to post the error message as well.but the problem is, there is no error message which i get to see or remember. all i get to see is all of a sudden a blue screen comes....on the bottom of it says,
" dumping memory......bla bla"...and the system restarts. but when the system restarts, a dialog box comes which gives details abt the error...
details also tell " files which help describe the problem"
they are as follow
c:\windows\minidump\mini011808-01.dmp
c:\users\tyad\appdata\local\temp\WER-83257.sysdata.xml
c:\users\tyad\appdata\local\temp\WER9665.tmp.version.txt
i'v also tried manually deleting these files but didnt help.hence now,
i have run the factory reset and still the problem is there. infact it came within minutes after the reset finished.
plz help.

what you need to help you out is to go into system properties>advanced> startup and recovery>settings and under system failure uncheck "automatically restart".

this will not cure your problem but will keep the bsod error message on screen for you to copy it down.

I don't know if it's the same in Vista (If that is what you have), but in XP, you can go to Control Pannel, Admin Tools, Event Viewer.  Select System Events, and look for an error in the system event log at the time it crashed.  Click on it for more info. I don't know if it will help you, but it will show you the error message.

hi,
yes there is event manager here in vista too.
i went and checked. there was no entry corresponding to the time of crash.
weird but i think it was cuz the system jst crashed and it didnt have enough time to even register it inthe events log...:smileywink:
so anyways. i call the dell technicians. they have formated my harddrive and Vista has again be loaded.
as per them its a problem in vista so it had to be reloaded.cant do anything.
they went for the easyway out.

hoping the problem has been rectified now.

thanks for the help.
