Bluetooth mouse disconnects
Is anyone NOT experiencing seemingly random Bluetooth mouse disconnects with Dell laptops in the default Windows 7/8 configuration? In my experience I always have to disable "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" on the Bluetooth radio device to get stable operation (recently on my E7440, but I cannot recall coming across any Latitude model in recent years where I did not have to apply this tweak.) I guess this has detrimental effect on battery life, and a permanent fix would be most welcome.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2710637/no suggests getting a firmware/driver update from the manufacturer, so I've engaged Dell ProSupport to help me look into the issue. I fear it's a general problem with the Intel Bluetooth chipset, though.
Any other insight appreciated.

I know this post is a couple months old but thought I'd add my 2 cents in.
It's interesting you mention this issue because I am currently troubleshooting a Dell e7440 with this problem.
What I can tell you is this is a problem with most if not all Latitude and Precision models. Maybe it's the intel chipset that came with it. I've had several brand new Dell laptops (e6330, 6430, 6530) come with a brand new Bluetooth Dell mouse and within 30 minutes, it stops working. After a while, you can't delete and re-add the mouse. When it gets to this point, that specific bluetooth mouse will no longer work with that computer unless you either reinstall all the bluetooth drivers or reimage the laptop.
The newest test I ran today is that one of our employees bought a bluetooth Logitech Ultrathin Touch mouse and the same problem happened to his Dell e6330. He also uses that mouse on his Mac and doesn't experience any issues. I tested it on our e7440 and the same problem happened.
Unfortunately, the bluetooth drivers in device manager does not show the "Power Management" tab so that you can disable the turn off this device to save power feature. Where are you seeing that option? I did notice the power management option is on the Intel 7260 wireless driver and I believe the wifi/bluetooth chips are on a combo card. Either way that didn't help either.
So..., I don't think it has anything to do with the mouse itself but rather an issue with the chipset, as you mentioned, or a bluetooth setting that needs to be modified. Hope this helps.
Have you found any other solutions?

By the way, this link shows what you did but it also explains 2 setting changes in the services.msc app.
