C610 Battery error

Just got a used C610 and the battery was being recognized with the factory BIOS but was showing 0% and unable to charge. I updated the BIOS to A15 or A16 i think and now it's not recognizing the battery at all. The battery light used to flash occasioanlly with the original BIOS but now does nothing. The BIOS and WindowsXP do not recognize the battery. Tried both bays but this is the only battery I have to test.

I have a C640.  I am having similar problem.  I can use battery or AC, but computer does not charge battery at all.  I read a google post the other day that said a jump from A02 to A09 BIOS fixed the problem, but I had already upgraded from A03 to A10 to no avail.  When I tried to downgrade to A09, it won't let me because I already have a newer version installed.  I ran dell Diag and it gave me a Battery Charger error of 3600-0123.  I am having problems figuring out exactly what that means.

Mine won't even run at all with only the battery plugged in. I am also unabel to run the Dell Diagnostics for some reason. Window just opens and then closes. Anybobyd think I just need a new battery. I'd hate to buy one and it not work too.

How are you running diag, are you using F12 when windows begins to boot?

Ahhh. I think I need to create a bootable disk to run the diagnostics program. I was trying to run it straight from the HD in Windows. Will try this later tonight.

I left the battert and all the parts in my car for a few days and now it's charging fine. Temp in the car was well above 105 F. Not sure if this fixed it?
