C610 Extreme brightness!!

Question

Hi there, first time poster here :)   Just got a C610, a few years old, and was working fine until about 5 mins ago. The screen suddenly went extremely (!!) bright, and some of the colours have dulled out. When connecting to an external display it is absoloutely fine, leading me to think that the latop's monitor is at fault here - am i right? It is quite annoying!   Thanks a lot people   *Edit* forgot to say, i've tried it with it on AC and on battery, which makes no difference, and using the brightness controls just dims it a little, nothing of any significance. Update:   Now the monitor is failing to work at all! The backlight is the only thing going, nothing is coming up on the screen, and there are lines going from top to bottom. The whole screen is changing to green to blue to white whenever you do something.... Again it works when I have it plugged into a CRT screen, but the laptop screen has failed to show me anything.   Please could someone help!!
