Can anyone help me please????

I have borrowed this laptop any everything seems to be going horribly wrong. It already has freeserve set up as a dial up isp but i have installed tiscali broadband on to it so that i can access the internet. Everything has been working fine for about three weeks, yesterday i got an error message C:\windows\system32|autoexec.nt does not support ms dos or microsft windows applications, then my tiscali broadband connection disappears. Can any one give me any advice on how to fix this????

Did you try running System Restore if you are using Windows Xp?

What Operating System are you using? as your mentioning of MS-DOS means your using either 95, 98, 98SE, or ME.

Since those OSs are very old we will need a lot more information to even begin to help...

So start with the OS and then explain everything else too such as system model and it's specs...

Sorry to have been a bit vague. I am using windows XP and its a Inspirion 5150. I have already treid to use system restore but it doesn't work, by this i mean it gives me a message to say that it could not be restored to this point and that nothing has been changed. I really do'nt know what else to do.
