Cannot detect my graphic card!

Hi guys! I have reformatted my laptop recently and after that, my nvidia graphic card is not detectable anymore. please help?

Here's some screenshot:

The display adapters only detects Intel Hd Graphics, but the nvidia is undetectable

Here is the version of my Bios:

I have also read that bios could affect the detection of hardware? correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm looking into all possible options why my computer cannot detect my Gaming graphic card.

by the way my laptop is Dell xps 14z

Hello MiggyRentero,

Please help me understand of you have installed the drivers in the correct order post re-installation of the operating system. If not, please install the windows updates and once done, install the drivers in the right order from the Dell Drivers and Download and check if the issue persist.

Hello MiggyRentero,

I would suggest updating the BIOS to the latest version.
**NOTE: Few things to ensure before updating the Bios is, the Ac Adapter should be plugged in and the battery should have minimum of 15% charge. No other external peripherals should be connected to the computer. Please ensure that the Bios update should not be interrupted else it would damage the motherboard.

Hi MiggyRentero,

try this also please

- before installing the graphic card drivers please close all programs and applicatios running

- if the issue persists try to disable your antivirus until the driver is installed than enable it because the antivirus prevent installation of some drivers and application even if its ok i mean without virus

- if the problem still persists ensure that you have "windows installer"

- if the issue still persist please do what Mr Dell-Allan D told to you i mean update the bios

Awaiting your response

Hi I already update the BIOS as you have told me to. But the hardware still doesn't appear in the device manager. This is pretty disappointing. :(

Hello MiggyRentero,

Please refer to the article on how to perform Factory Restore on your computer.

**Note: Please ensure to back up all the data from your computer before restoring the computer to factory state as it would erase everything from your computer.

Hope this helps!

Hey, I remember that I upgraded my OS from Win7 Home Basic to Ultimate. Is this a factor on the issue of the missing videocard?

Hello MiggyRentero,

There are few steps I would suggest which might help us in fixing the issue:

  1. Uninstall the Intel HD Graphics from Device Manager. Right click the Intel HD Graphics and click Uninstall. Please ensure to check the box “Delete driver software for this device”.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Open Windows Updates and in the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer. If there is any update for the Intel HD Graphics, please install it.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Try installing the nVidia drivers from the Drivers and Download page.

Restart the computer and check if the video card is getting detected.

Hey bro, everything went smooth from step 1 to 4 but again at step 5 it wasn't successful. Is there any thing you can do about my warranty cause it is still valid until July? Thanks!

Hello MiggyRentero,

In this case, I would suggest you to try installing the video drivers from a new user account (please ensure to create an admin account).

Hope this helps

Hello MiggyRentero,

Please try running the Run a PC Diagnostics on the Video Card and Full System Diagnostics. This would prove the functionality of the video card.
