changing the lcd cover

my cover was broken, i ordered a new one but it didn't come with directions. does anyone know how to get the old cover off and put on the new one?

took 15 calls to dell to determine what it was that i needed to order. first they sent me a hinge cover which wasn't what i needed. then i researched and found i had to order the cover kit because part of the side was broken.

dell's service not so great

It would help if you'd post the model system you have.

I wonder how much a lid cover costs? I'd like to be able to change the color depending on my mood, I ordered the tuxedo black one, but I wouldn't mind changing it to the red or blue one.

One of the forum members has a number of very useful videos on his website.

Whilst they deal with the XPS M1730 specifically, I doubt the procedure for removing the screens is any different between models?

The videos in which the LCD screen is removed/removed are the 'Graphics card upgrade'.

At least those will help you get the screen off/back on.

You'll just have to figure out how to remove the actual cover yourself, once you've got the screen off.
