Charging Battery
Ok i have about a week with my I8600 and i note that when that lap is off and charging there is not indicator to tell you that is fully charge. u have to lik turn it on and go to the bios or go to windows. this is my question. Does this affect my Battery in the long run. does it over charge that battery. I have a PDA (not from Dell) and it turn Red when is charging and then after is fullly charge it change to green and it stop charging the battery. Can some Let me know that truth. how this really works.other thing i can never seem, to be my Centrino to work At 1.3 unless im conneted to the wall. is that even if i put it on Home/Office Desk (in the power management) and it never pass 600 MHZ. yah i know is cool and all the it save u battery but thre are sometime that i want my lap to run Full speed. i mean i just dont get it. it doesnt pass 600MHZ after is unpluged. Help or let me know if this is a Bug of some sort. I only have 1 week i can still send it back and get a refund.
1.3GHZ, ,256MB of ram (already Upgraded i have 1GB NOW), ,4X DVD-RW, ,40GB HD, ,15.4.

You may want to try out a program called SpeedSwitch XP. It allows you to manually control your cpu speed.
As for recharging the battery, on my 8500, there is a led indicator beside the "busy" led. When the battery is plugged in and charging, it is green. When it is at full charge, it turns off. Since your model is based on the 8500, I would assume that you also have this indicator. Check it out.

A way to check the battery without turning your computer on is turning your Inspiron upside-down and pusing on the battery meter on the small button on the battery. 5 LEDs on the battery indicate the remaining charge.
