Clean XP install - what about drivers?
I have an Inspirion 9400 notebook.
I need to do a clean install on formatted drive (performance issues).
I have "OPERATING SYSTEM" DELL CD which says "Reinstallation CD - Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.
Does this CD contain all the original DELL drivers I need (e.g. network adapters, sound, video, bluetooth, wireless, etc.?) I have not installed any kind of new hardware, jjust original hardware that came with the NB.
I am confused because it says on this CD "This CD is not for reinstallation of programs or drivers".
So does this CD install original DELL drivers along with the XP installation, or do I need to install this drivers myself? Do I nee dto get a drivers' CD or download the drivers? I looked for drivers under the "Drivers" section in Dell support using my service tag number, but the selection of drivers that comes up is very very limited.
Please advise.

The disc that you describe is the Windows XP operating system installation disc. That disc does not contain the specific drivers for your system. That disc will be sent out for any WinXP installation on any Dell System. It is not specific to your system as you mentioned: "This CD is not for reinstallation of programs or drivers".
To download the drivers, go to the bottom of the left column on this web page and click on "Support Tools".
That will give you a list of items.
Click on "Drivers and Downloads".
Enter your service tag number or your computer model number.
This will take you to a list of drivers for your system.
Make sure that you install the device drivers in the correct order. Here are the instructions on what that order is.
