Clock Speed (minimum and maximum and current) Question?

Now and again once in windows my i6000 it slow, control pannel indicates that the processor is running at somewhere between my minimum clock speed and my maximum. The processor is the Intem M 1.73ghz. Often windows tells me it is running at 797Mhz. Does anyone know the story behind this?   Cheers! And all the best!   Jeff

its the 'speedstep' function of intel.. don't worry everything is working as it should.. you processor bumps up to it's max when demanding tasks are performed and scales down when not needed.. if you however prefer to have your processor at full, you can simply change your power options to 'home / office desk'... this should prevent your processor from scaling down to minimums.. (right click 'power icon'.. select 'adjust power properties'..select home/ office desk' as your default power scheme )..hope this helps
