Ctr - Alt - Del Does not work on Laptop
Hi there, I have a new Dell Latitude D630 Laptop Running Vista and I just recently added it to our domain and it now needs to press ctrl-alt-del to login, and nothing happens when I push that on the laptop keyboard. if I hook up a USB keyboard it works, but not with the laptop keyboard...
I've tried installing A15 bios (newest one) and that didn't help... Is it a different key sequence for ctrl-alt-del on this model?

Keyboard failures are common. Thats why replacements are a standard procedure.

Run the keyboard diagnostics - F12 at powerup - to verify that all the keys are working properly.

what happens when you press them when not connected does the task manager open up?

Hey there, thanks for the replies!! Well, I've narrowed the problem down a bit more... In the bios test, all seems to pass fine... When I'm in Vista (32bit) Ultimate the Alt key doesn't seem to respond. I've got the keyboard setup for US english... Both Alt keys don't respond...
Problem keyboard? It's brand new!! Is there something else I'm missing? I'm thinking about blowing it away and installing XP to see if it has the same problem...
If I plug in a usb keyboard the alt key works on it, just not on the laptop keyboard...
Any other ideas???

It doesn't matter whether the keyboard is "brand new" or not. You've confirmed that an external keyboard does work properly, and yet the laptop keyboard does not. You also speak about "installing XP to see if it has the same problem". Of course it will have the same problem. A faulty keyboard will work no better with XP than it will with Vista. If the machine is brand new, then contact Dell and have it replaced.

I am having the same issue on my d620. Ctrl + Alt + Del combination does not work, but each of those keys individually or with another key combination work fine, so it cannot be the keyboard. it has to be some setting or configuration that is preventing this particuliar key combination from working.
I have tried reimaging the lapot with Windows vista and windows 7, I always get the same result. The problem with the keyboard is what prompted me to reimage, but still not working.
Still looking for a resolution...
