Cursor jumps around after upfgrading FlashBIOS

Hello:

I have a Laptop Latutude C840. I bought a new battery from Dell, and they also sent me a CD to upgrade de FlashBIOS to version A13.
After I upgraded the FlashBIOS, the cursor started to move around, jumps, closes windows, etc.
I downloaded an earlier version and tried to downgrade but would not allow me to do so.

How can I make the cursor stop jumping around?

thanks,

aap

I have this problem sometimes if the computer has not been closed down properly.

Did you try starting up in Safe mode (using F8 at start up) then close down and restart normally.

You could also try Last working startup ( words to that effect).

Alps GlidePoint/StickPointer, Driver, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Multi Language, Multi System, v.5.4.102.12, A09
Release Date: 5/12/2005

Above seems to be the most recent ALPS Driver for the 'C' series,

there is a newer one up for the 'D' series also.

At times, Drivers can become corrupted, no fault of BIOS.

Thanks for the help!

The problem, it seems, was the driver for the ALPS pad.

The hard drive of the laptop was replaced some time ago and the people who replaced it did not install all the software. The machine was using the Windows 2000 default driver.

I downloaded and installed the ALPS driver and that seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks again.

Glad it's working now, "if it ain't broke...",
but for any future installs from your Dell Download site;

Latitude C840 / Microsoft Windows 2000 / English
Choose a Device for Download

You should first install your Chipset from above site, allows successful
install of the other necessary drivers.
