D420 - battery weight ?

0.32 kg (0.70 lb) (6 cell) 0.23 kg (0.52 lb) (4 cell)

so still nothing for the 9 Cell
its ok, I got a 9cell on the way anyways, will probaboy look for a 4Cell on ebay.

I just weighed my 9-cell battery for my D420 and it weighs ~17 oz or just over a pound. It sticks out the front of the unit as well (see pics down the page over here http://www.notebookforums.com/thread176082-2.html)

BTW, is everyone experiencing the fan on ther D420 running all the time (on medium or high too!) once the system has been turned on for 15-20 mins? Mine just runs and runs. Dell support says it's the way it is which is very diappointing. I am so bummed out about this!

My fan comes on after a couple of minutes as well. but that's expected since its a tight/small package.
I hope you don't hear your fan. I don't hear mine at all. If it ever dies, I got 3 year warranty, so that should cover it.
I got my D420 with a 9cell as well couple of weeks ago.
Its not too bad. Still pretty light.
I've been looking around for a 4cell anyways. Just to have that ULTRA light option when I take it to class and back in couple of hrs.
By the way, love the 9cell, it lasts all day for me without having to worry about recharging.

Thx for the message. I would suggest just getting the 6-cell as it's no bigger than the 4-cell (it tucks flush right into the casing unlike the 9-cell) and it give you 50% more power for a little less than a few more ozs.

BTW, my fan is LOUD and obnoxious. It seems like it always is now stepping up to the medium speed after a little while from when I turn it on in the morning. I must say that I never expected this to comment on your point. It is unacceptable IMHO.
