D620 video / heat question
I was wondering if anyone has compared the amount of heat generated from a D620 with the GMA versus the D620 with the nvidia quaddro. I have several D610s at my disposure, some with GMAs and some with ATI X300s, and the ones with the X300s give off a lot more heat on the bottom than the ones with the GMA. Anyone have experience with this on a D620 yet?

I think either will get hot after a bit. I know mine can get quite warm, but I don't use it on my lap. It seems all these newer modern laptops have fan intakes on the bottom and you definitely don't want to block those or it will get really hot and possibly fail. I tend to use a lapdesk or book large enough for the laptop to sit on it's rubber feet so as to have adequate room underneath for ventilation.

Sometimes I can't use the keyboard on the laptop because the left size gets so hot. Even on a solid desk. I use an external keyboard.
It was not that hot during the fall and winter... In spring, it was bearable.. Came summer, the condition became worse.
I have to tilt the laptop by putting a small book (1/4 inch) on back edge to allow more air to cool it off.
I also put some plastic risers to tilt it a bit, but they do not seem to help.
I think it is due to bad design. Unless someone convinces me otherwise! :-)
