D630 - Quickset Location Profiler Bug
I started using the Location Profiler functionality and I think I have run into a bug. I have a profile that automatically sets up my proxy server and proxy exceptions in the office and a second profile that removes them when I am at home.
Heres a rough example of the string of proxy exceptions as entered into my work profile. Each domain has subdomains (hence the *.) ... each is ended with a ; and a space before the next exception in the list.
"10.*; *.domain1.com; *.domain2.com; *.domain3.com"
The problem is that it looks like when these exceptions are added to IE the location profiler removes the spaces in between the items in the list. Resulting in:
"10.*;*.domain1.com;*.domain2.com;*.domain3.com"
Which causes all of our intranet domains to stop working ... I have to go into IE and add the spaces back every morning ... then our intranet domains start working again.
Anyone else seen this? Know of a work around? Any easy way to report a bug to Dell's developers?

I have a similar kind of problem with Location Profiler. I have set up 2 different profiles; one for office (LAN with proxy) and another profile for home/out of office use (without proxy).
When I enable the office-profile (with proxy) all intranet sites stop working. I have tried to add them as exceptions like mjl0624 and I also tried without adding them as exceptions but no luck. All intranet sites start working again if I only click OK from the proxy settings tab in IE. I mean, I don't change anything, just accepting the same values again but from IE...

I hadnt tried that until you said it worked for you ... it worked. It makes the process much easier not having to manually add spaces between the exception string entires.
Just wish Dell would fix the bug entirely so we wouldn't have to do this every morning. If any of the forum moderators could pass this bug along to the software team we would really appreciate it.

I can confirm having the same problem -- and the same solution. Just clicking "OK" solves the whole thing. However the problem only applies to Internet Explorer and not Firefox.
Have you discovered any way to report this problem to Dell?

We are getting this problem on a Latitude XT running Vista and using quickset to change between Wired and Wireless networks. Works great apart from the exceptions dont work as mentioned here.
Has anyone found a fix for this other than openning up internet settings? I agree this does work but for our users it is a hassle and i dont really want to have to install Firefox on all 50 of these laptops we have given out.

Im still having this problem with IE. Yes it works great with Firefox but would also like IE to work without having to open up the Internet Options menu each time to get the right settings. I do think however that the problem doesn't come from Quickset i think its more that the settings from Quickset are changed in the registry and then IE isn't re-reading them until you open the menu and tell it to. If anyone knows a way to make IE re-read the registry with some kind of script this could be added to the applications to launch through Quickset and this problem would be fix the problem.

I had been experiencing same problem on my Latitude D630 with location profiler. Once I click OK on Tools >> Internet Options >> Connections >> LAN Settings it takes proxy settings. This is really painful; I have tested it on IE7 and IE8, same problem at both places.
There is problem with bypass proxy settings too, IE7 supports wild card "*" and ";" as separator but Firefox doesnt support it. So if I want to bypass 10.10.20.*; 172.16.* it works for IE but not for Firefox. For Firefox I have to mention it as 10.10.20., 172.16. But dot with space and comma as separator doesn't work for IE. So if I am using two browsers for some testing or anytihg then using Dell Locaiton Profiler is really not useful.
Any suggestions or fix?
