D820 Ctrl key not working after drive partitioned

Anyone,
We have a D 820 that we applied an image to with Ghost. We also installed PArtition Magic 7.0 and partitioned the HD afterwhich the Ctrl key does not function as the Ctrl key, it prints the number 5, 6=, and other random things. Any ideas?

I, too, am experiencing a Ctrl Key issue with my brand new D820. I have not done any drive partitioning but have been installing software (of course). I do not know when the issue began -- so far as what software was added prior to the issue.

The only way I found to reset the CTRL Key, at least temporarily, is to shut the system down. A reboot doesn't clear it.

I have been unable to track down what causes the error to start.

Michael,

We had a Dell Tech. walk us through reseating the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard. If you pop up the plastic strip above the keyboard, remove three screws, and lift up the keyboard; there is a very dainty ribbon cable connecting the keyboard. If you delicately pry it loose and reseat it, that fixed our problem.

Yes, thanks. After ignoring last night's chat (tech wanted me to system restore back to day 1 thereby uninstalling ALL my apps, including ones I had to authenticate - Photoshop, Dreamweaver), I spoke with a great tech guy today who walked me through the cable resetting. Hopefully the fix lasts.

Resetting the connector cable seems to be working for me too.

Thanks for the solution.
