Damaged USB port?
I'm kind of in a predicament. My USB port on my Inspiron 3200 has something wrong with it. I am having a difficult time making a connection between my USB devices and the USB port. For example, with my USB scanner, I must hold the connector just right in order for a connection to be made (I need to hold it up and to the left, to be exact). I can get no connection with my USB game controller, just a slight flicker as I am plugging it in.
My machine is out of warranty, so I am wondering how expensive this problem would be to fix. It must be a problem with the USB port.
Thanks in advance for your help.

One thing you might try is updating the BIOS on your system. You can find these files on our website. From:
http://www.dell.com
Click on Support.dell.com and then the Site Map at the right of the top bar. Click on File Library. Enter your Service Tag or Express Service Code and it will give you a complete listing of all the files for your system. The files you are looking for will be listed here as well as other updates that might be of interest. You can also find a variety of tools and information about your system in the Dell Knowledge Center.
If the issue continues, you may need to contact our Mobile Computing Hotline at 800-822-8965 for Government/Education Accounts, 800-234-1490 for Corporate Accounts, or at 800-247-9252 for Direct accounts. You will be connected to a Latitude/Inspiron Technical Specialist who will help you resolve the issue over the phone or arrange the appropriate service.
