Dell Battery Type: D5318

My Dell Inspiron 6000's D5318 battery has a weird problem that I've never encountered before with any battery. It has 5 capacity LEDs, and it goes in a weird pattern. Only three light up, the top, the middle and the bottom LEDs. The laptop seems to be affected by this too, as when it is inserted into the laptop the battery charging/warning LED malfunctions.

Is there anyone who knows what is happening?

Hi activegalaxys,

Thank you for writing to Dell Community Forum.

when you boot into BIOS , is the battery detected? Also, can you update the BIOS to the latest version from our Dell Support site?

Please click my DELL-username and send me a Private Message with the Dell Service Tag number and your email address.

One or more of the battery cells is bad - the battery needs to be replaced.
