Dell C800 computer. Will be using the mouse and it will stop. Keyboard will also stop working.

I have a dell c800 and when im using it, after some home the mouse will stop.  And then the keyboard will also stop working.  Ill go and hit buttons, and it will beep or it will mess with windows i have open.
 
i just put a new motherboard in.  Thinking maybe its the keyboard its self .. what are those batteries used for in the touchpad?
 
Someone help .. !

Hi,

The batteries under the palm-rest are to hold Bios settings. It may be that you have fitted a faulty MBD. It sounds like it is " hanging " .  Have you changed any software recently ? It may be worth running the Diags, to see if they find a problem. It may also be related to heat, as it seems to run fine at first. I would also test the fans with the Diags.

Thanks for the help ... I ran the diag.  to find out that my alt key doesnt work.  What im thinking is happening is that the key will turn on/get stuck .. and thas why when i hit F  or H the file and help window will open.
 
If i go and use the on-screen keyboard ive found that i can turn the alt off, but clicking on it.  So, i plan just to get a new keyboard .. shuld help the problem. 
 
And with the mouse moving .. ive found that its because of the mouse mover thats built into the keyboard.  Not sure of its name.
 
So, all in all .. get a new keyboard and i should be fine!!
