Dell Inspiron 1525 HELP!

This is a shot in the dark...

Remove a/c adapter and the battery.

Hold down the power button for a few seconds.

Re-install battery and connect  a/c power.

Power-up and hope for the best.

Thanks, do you think this is a battery related issue or is it the acutally motherboard of the laptop.

First  remove The Battery on the Battery there should be a battery icon followed by 5 dots hold that in if the dots light up sequentially the battery is good if not and the system is within a year get it replaced

Second if the lights did light up sequentaly  visit support.dell.com and enter your service tag and then reinstall/update the chipset and bios for your system restart see if it charges in windows if not restart f2 on the dell logo goto battery let it sit there and see if it charges if not the motherboard will need to be replaced.

Unfortunately your suggestion didn't work. Is a BIOS necessary? In the BIOS the battery isn't charging. It stays at 0%

Is the charge indicator light on the front left side of the palmrest lit up or blinking?

There are no charge status indicator lights on these batteries, At least not on my 6-cell battery.

The battery indicator blinks oragne a couple times then blue. I think the battery might be defective.

I may have a slight advantage there. I have a couple of friends that also have Inspiron 1525's, so I could borrow a battery to see if that is the problem. You might want to pick up an extra battery on eBay. I don't think Dell's warranty covers batteries.
