Dell Inspiron 1545 memory issues
Recently my computer went to a blue screen only allowing safe mode start up. Now it goes to a black screen saying to try to reseat the memory decreasing memory available. I reseated the memory and still have the problem. I'm not sure if my computer has 2 or 4g how do I figure that out without getting on my computer. I've never purchased extra memory so I have whatever it came with. It also beeps 4 times with a break consistently while turned on

Hi dhallquist,
4 beeps indicate Read / Write failure of the RAM.
You may try reseating the memory module of your computer; swap and try one module at a time in each slot. See if it works. If the memory modules are seated properly, swapped and checked, and do work with another computer; it means it is an issue with the memory slot (motherboard).

I got my computer to work by taking out one of the memory modules...what does that mean about the one I took out if the computer doesn't work with it in

Swap that module into the other socket. If it doesn't work there either, the module is bad. If it does, it means one of the memory sockets is bad. Replace either the module or the mainboard, depending on what you observe.
