Dell inspiron 15r not functioning properley
I bought a Dell inspiron 15r core i5 with a windows 8. I havnt even crossed 10 GB space and the laptop keeps hanging (1TB memory space). Initially catalyst control problems kept appearing and when i opened the icon box, i couldnt understand what to do. Now various icons in the laptop dont display or open, start up is very late and even the features that open like the google crome, MsWord files and other Pdf files keep hanging. Take they ages to open but when they do, they just keep hanging. Even the Task manager does not respond. Please help!!!

Sorry about the situation. Please go ahead and run Diagnostics. Also try a safe boot and see if it is same there as well.

i followed your instructions and ran the diagnosis, the computer still hangs several times and the task manager still doesnt work. i also got a notification from Mcfree antivirus saying that "My computer is at risk" as the laptop cannot update. Is there a virus problem inspite of having an antivirus installed???

Have checked the performance of the system in Safe mode with networking as suggested by Shrikanth G?
Also please try the steps mentioned in this link to fix Mcafee issues: http://dell.to/13lwAPv
Please post the results.
