Dell Inspiron e1705 Error Code: 2000-0221( Interval Timer Channel 0 (mode 0) is not generating interrupts)

How do i fix this? My wife put my laptop into standby one day...closed it and later opened it and upon the system coming back shut the hard drive down and gave her a black text screen basically saying...there was a change in the hardware/software of your system...your system was shut down to protect any data loss...etc

I haven't made any changes to my hardware/software recently which is the odd thing. I thought my hard drive went bad so i ordered another just in case...and it turned out that i received this error code mentioned a general interrupt.  Is there a simple way of fixing this through the diagnostics or a reset somewhere? Please advise...
