Dell Inspiron Not getting Started
Hi...
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 R, N5110. I've got a problem with that recently. It doesn't power on with the battery plugged - in. But If I remove the battery & connect only the ac power, it will start. What could be the problem. *I've tried with another battery also. Seems there is no problem with the battery.

Unfortunately, this sounds like that the charging / system board is defective on the notebook. Unless you are using non Dell branded batteries that are not compatible with the N5110 this is going to require a service. I will be sending a friend request so that I can get your information and research any possible service options.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for the reply. I am not using any non-compatible battery. I bought 2 of the mentioned model at the same time(in Jan 2011, It's out of warranty by the way). I have the same issue with the other laptop also.
I guess it's a power circuit problem in the motherboard, like you said. Please give your suggestions.

Are both batteries original (and the ones you tried)? Or did you try a newer battery as well?

I am not sure that I understand this correctly, you have two N5110s that are behaving the same way, and neither will start up with a battery attached, and swapping out the batteries doesn’t help, or is it that only the one system will not start up with either battery attached?
If one system works fine, and the other won’t start up with any battery attached, then the system board will need to be swapped out on the defective system.
If both systems fail to start with the batteries, it will either be the batteries or system boards, of the two I consider it much more likely that the batteries will fail first especially if both systems was purchased in 2011. If possible I would look at trying a replacement battery (please make sure that it will be a Dell battery compatible with the N5110) before swapping out any system boards.
