Dell laptop powers itself on randomly
I have a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop. I always shut it down at night, using Start - Shutdown, and wait to confirm that it powers off. Recently it has started powering itself on randomly during the night. Why is this happening, and what can I do about it?
Thanks
Neal

Please list exactly Dell model number and version of windows. Ex: Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10
If you don't know, type msinfo32 into the search box, you'll see system information. In the meantime, I'd suggest you run Guide Me option in Dell Product Support page. It will automatically detect driver updates for your system. Please follow instructions to run Guide Me Option in the Dell video below:

Thanks for the advice. For the record my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15R model number 5010 0699, running Windows 7 (I have declined all efforts by Microsoft to push me into Windows 10). Up till now, I have shut down the laptop every night, but left the battery charger plugged in and switched on. I have taken the following steps. Updated several drivers via the Dell website. Examined all Scheduled Tasks and where the run time had been set to be during the night, changed it to the middle of the day. In addition, where I was able, I changed the running conditions so that the task could only be started when the laptop was plugged in and charging. I now routinely unplug the charger from the mains every night. This combination of actions seems to have prevented the laptop from starting itself up during the night (for the last 2 nights at any rate!). I hope my experience will be useful to others. Thanks again. Neal
