Dell Latitude E4300 backlit keyboard ??? Why?

Hello, I have a Latitude E4300 Keyboard and wanted to replace it with a backlit keyboard.  It has an NU956 keyboard in it, and I purchased an OEM KR737 latitude keyboard for it.  I put it in, it just says "loading windows" and windows never loads.  Then I shut down, reboot and it tries to 'detect hardware problems from previous failed boot" and it just 'spins' and never does anythign.  I put the old keyboard back in and works fine.

Will a BIOS update help? Is there a driver I need FOR the backlit keyboard? Is there another model that works in the E4300??

Much thanks in advance to any help on this topic.

Merry Xmas, DON!

On a system of this age, a dying hard drive would be a strong possibility. Press f12 at powerup and boot to the Dell diagnostics from the boot menu -- run an extended hard drive test.
