Dell Latitude E5420 broken hinge
Hello I am new to this forum and had a question about a DIY job I am going to attempt. My right hinge broke which I am now finding is a common problem with this machine. I ordered the back cover assembly with both hinges attached and all wires and should receive it next week. I was told this may be easier than just replacing each hinge. How easy a job is this for me alone so I don't need to pay the computer shops over one hundred dollars to do this as I have been quoted. Thanks:emotion-1:

If you take your time and keep track of all the screws (take pictures before you start), it's not that bad. The service procedure is in the owner's manual:

I looked at the manual and there were only instructions to replace display assembly is that what I would use? I ordered the back dark gray dell cover with the hinges and the silver display base attached to the bottom as well. Thanks for your help

You'll need to follow through the instructions for replacing the display panel (and mainboard if you plan to replace the base assembly as well).
Just keep track of all the screws and leave yourself a couple of hours to do the job.
