Dell Mini 9 SSD problem
Hi, hope someone can help with this. We have a Dell mini 9 which is just out of warranty and has decided to pack up : When I start the computer it comes up with a black screen and the following:
Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build082)
For Realtek RTL810E/8102E PCI-E Ethernet controller v1.08 (080408)
PXE-E61 Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM.
Operating system not found
It had windows XP installed with 1GB RAM and an 8GB SSD hard drive.
I have reseated the hard drive in case it had bad connections but no change.
Is it a case of a new hard drive and can I install a standard hard drive instead of the SSD as they seem very expensive, the netbook is used solely for web browsing and email.
Thanks for any help.

j-mini9.... which utility did you use?? and did it work?.... I have two 910's down with the same situation as Andypandy1956. Both were purchased in the UK (December 2009) and both have died this month. Any help would be much appreciated.

Kelvynmia,
If you send me an email (decipher it below) I will respond with the utility that S-TEC sent me a year or so ago. Has worked for quite a few I believe..
Alternatively you can try and download the file I just uploaded here = DOS_Based_Upgrade_Utility.bmp, which you'll need to rename to a .ZIP instead of a .BMP
http://en.community.dell.com/members/n857ch/files/dos_5f00_based_5f00_upgrade_5f00_utility.bmp.aspx
No Guarantees with this. I'm just a guy trying to help.. :emotion-2:
