Try re-installing the touchpad driver as it may not have installed correctly. Open Touchpad properties and check that the settings are correct. Click on the links below for troubleshooting the touchpad issue.

To fix the problem, you'll need a replacement palmrest.

Hi there,I downloaded the said drivers still it did not work,ran diagnostics and it did not pick up any problems,ended up taking it in to a local supplier and they supplied me with a wireless mouse and suggested that it is the actual touchpad hardware that is faulty.Thanks for the advice Babita, wish it solved the problem.

If you don't want to replace the palmrest right now you could use a remapping software like AutoHotkey.

the following code would make the left and right arrow key behave like the left and right button of a mouse or touchpad

(this is just an example - using  other keys is of course possible)

Can you please explain the steps to use autohotkey to do the mouse movements, my touchpad has died.  Cheers, Liam

If you don't want to install Autohotkey you can download mouse.exe - no installation required - just double click.A green "H"-icon will appear in the system tray.Right clicking on the icon lets you exit the application.Mouse.exe is nothing more than the compiled version of mouse.ahk.
You can use notepad to see the contents of mouse.ahk.
