Dell USB 2 Button Optical Mouse with Scroll for Latitude Notebooks

I just got my new Latitude D800. It is fantastic!

However, the external mouse works only intermittantly. Now and then, with no apparent reason, there is a sound chime and the mouse works. Later, again with no apparent reason, there is another sound chime, and the mouse stops working.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

There's very little that can go wrong with a mouse that is fixable.  The chime noises are windows helpfully informing you that a USB device had been connected/disconnected.  I'd suggest you check the connector btween the mouse and the computer - if it can wiggle around it isn't in properly and is probably why the mouse works intermittently. If it seems to be in ok, then you might have a more serious problem.  Do other USB devices work?  If not you may have a faulty motherboard, which Dell will replace for you.  If it's just the mouse, then that's probably faulty and Dell should replace that for you.

Hope this Helps
