Dell website Drivers and Downloads page not functioning

I am unable to access functionality on Dell's "Drivers and Downloads" page.  Sometimes the page comes up, sometimes not.  When it comes up I enter my service tag number and it hangs.  I have the same issue when I try to select a specific model.  On another PC I managed to get to the file I want to download, but when I tried to download the file, I got the "web page cannot be displayed" error.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Is there a workaound?

You are not alone.. I too am having the same problem and I do have IE 8 and pop up blocker turned off.  Ive even tried it from another computer and it still is having problems...  I believe it went down yesterday.  I had a customer that I had to do a recovery on her computer and I couldnt download any drivers.  Called Dell Support and of course that was no help...

Make sure you are using Internet Explorer (version 8 is best) with popup blocker disabled.

Thanks for the reply.  I have tried it from 4 computers and same inconsistent results -- where "Drivers and Downloads" page is extremely slow and times-out before getting to the page where the drivers are listed.

I wonder if this problem is regional.  Watsupyo -- what city are you in?

Is there anybody not having this problem?  To test do the following:

  • Click "Drivers and Downloads" in the "Support" column at the bottom of most Dell site web pages
  • Once at the page (which might be slow getting there) select the option to enter your model -- and try navigating to your model.  This sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.  It is very slow either way.
  • Once you have found your model (I navigated to Latitude E6500) -- click "confirm"
  • Try to download something.

Any one of the above steps could hang.

Post back here your location (city) and whether or not you had a problem.

Thanks,
-Tom

I had the same slow or hang issues too. This is not normal.

I'm in north Florda and having the same issue with three different machines... Win7, Vista Home, and a new install of XP on an old XP box.  I rebuilt the older pc and now can't get the audio driver I need.

Very slow, impossible to use.

My location is Minot, ND and I can't update my drivers because Dell is useless.

Remind me to buy from a different company.

The problem is defiantly with the site. With it being the weekend it will most likely not get fixed until Monday. Calling support is useless as they do not have any control over the site.

I  have been having the same trouble! Does Dell care? From the responses, I don't think that they do. There will be a price to pay!

I just tried the downloads page and it worked for me.  It was slow once I selected the model number but it did take me to the proper download page.

I'm using WinXP SP3 with IE7.

The issue has been fixed. Guess Dell paid the price.
