Dell's response to 9200 WXUGA issue..?
Does Dell plan to address the numerous problems with the screen? If there are not enough complaints (and returns!), Dell will prob just sweep this under the rug. Of course Dell will spin the sparkling display as a "great feature." Its good not to be an early purchaser of new laptops.

Even if Dell was going to update or improve the display, they would not announce it here.

Let me start by saying I think the 9200 is a great machine and well spec’ed out. I am upgrading from an 8600 and love the new power and graphics ability. Thanks for going ATI Dell!!
Now....My 8600 with WXUGA is beautiful and very easy to see. I love small resolution screens as I code and need the space. The WXUGA screen that shipped with the 9200 is not as sharp as the 8600 and those who say otherwise are kidding themselves and others. The "sparkle" creates distraction or depth effect to the eye. I have found it better in games I play but worse for normal coding and browsing. Dell decision makers really need to pay attention to what people are saying. I have loved every machine I have purchased from Dell(5 laptops over 3 years) but now I have to give an uneasy ‘Yes’ to those who ask me if I like my new 9200.
If there is an upgrade I will be first in line for it pains me to see such a great machine with this kind of sub standard hardware.
Will I send it back. no way. Will I double think the next time I upgrade or buy my clients' machines from Dell...YES.
Now to call tech support and log my concerns…..Hi Ho, Hi Ho, its off to wait I go

DanoLoud,
To say that people like myself are 'kidding themselves and others" is arrogant on your part. The acceptability of the sharpness and clearness of the WUXGA to each user is a personal preference - nothing more. You have your preferences and others have theirs, but I am surely not "kidding myself." I have what is considered the sparkly WUXGA and love it!!! That is really all that matters.

After more research I realized that there are about 6 different manufactures of the 9200 screens. I happened to get the worst model number. If you are one of the ones that got the better screens I am sure you love the computer. I wish I had not been on the recieving end of the one I got.
I was going to keep the laptop but after the horrible experinece with CSR(s) I decided I was too close to the 21 day guarantee. Now we will see if Dell can bone up and refund my money in a timely manner.
I hit the boiling point after the last CSR started to tell me all the fabulous features of my laptop. As if I did not know already. I built it. I had to stop him when he started in on how i got 6 months of free AOL. Like I can't get that from Sony, HP, or the local grocery store.
Hats off to those who love the machine and I am glad for your good experiences. I am moving to Sony.

Thats funny, and you thought you had problems with your 9200. You are jumping into the fire with a Sony LT.

Yes,
Just keep at it and they will fix your 9200.
Dell really does make the best Laptops on the market.
No I wasn't kidding about Sony either.
The top 2 Laptop manufactors are Dell and IBM, will IBM, With Dell being the best.
I wouldn't even think of buying a Laptop anywhere else from what I have seen, used , and read.

Please oh god please don't say that. Is it too much to ask that I can get a really good laptop with a really good screen, and not have HUGE problems?
I guess not...is the way of the game I guess.
