dim screen with power plug

I have a dell vostro 1400 running win7 and the screen dims when the charger is plugged in.  I have the screen brightness set at max (100%) but when I plug it in, it goes to what looks like 70% brightness.  When I unplug it and it goes to battery, it comes back to maximum brightness.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

Hi Steffen,

I just had the same issue with my XPS M1330, tried many things with no result. Then, I restarted and entered the BIOS (press F2 or something) and check under "VIDEO", there are the MAX BRIGHTNESS settings for battery and AC. God knows why in my laptopt it was set to 4 when in AC and 8 for battery (that inverse behaviour) when the factory defaults are 3 for batt and 8 for AC. I had just set to the factory settings and it worked.

I hope this works for you.

You van adjust the brightness for battery and plug in on the Power settings page.
