Disable hyperthreading

Hi.

The title desribes it perfectly, I have a vostro 3450 v11 bios and need to urgently disable hyperthreading. I found no options in bios to do that, and I even found that i can't pretty much change absolutely anything in there, aside from system time/date. Is that normal ? Please help.

Hi Adave018,

I am afraid the option to disable Hyper-Threading is not available in Vostro 3450. BIOS does not have this option.

And you are correct, the “Main” section of the BIOS helps in changing just the System Time/Date.

However, the other sections available “Advanced”, “Security”, “Boot” & “Exit” allow users to change settings as listed below:

  • Advanced: Advanced menu contains USB configuration, devices behavior and miscellaneous devices settings.
  • Security: This section displays the security status and also allows user to manage the security features of the system.
  • Boot: This section allows the user to change the boot sequence behavior by using the arrows keystroke.
  • Exit: This section allows user to save, discard and load default settings before exiting from the Bios.

If you have any further questions feel free to reply.

Hm thats pretty bad. I suppose further bios updates won't add option to disable HT.

Well, ok. Thank you.
