Disabling Latitude D600 touchpad

Is it possible to diable the touchpad on the D600 Latitude?  I can't find a setting to disable it.  Because I have large hands, it's highly annoying when my thumb hits the touchpad on accident and my screen goes flying somewhere other than where I'm typing.

Help? :robotsad:

Welcome to the Dell User Forum,

HERE is the TouchPad Driver Download from Dell.

The Mouse Control Console, by the clock will open with a "disable" functions page
only "if you have touchpad/stick combo" otherwise just open tabs to select "Tap Off When Typing"
as well as "Hide Cursor When Typing".

Also has ability to set "sensitivity" so low that it will hardly work at all
(mine is always at max sensitivity).

I have a D610 instead and followed steps described above to setup driver. I could not find a way to disable it when I clicked "mouse" from control panel. Could you please tell me how did you do it?

Thanks

After installing the driver, I had a new program sitting in my system tray (by the clock).  Double clicking on that icon gave me the options to disable the touchpad.

I believe the program is apoint.exe or ApntEx.exe

those are the new image names in my Task Manager.

You're right, there is an icon (looks like an upside down two button mouse) at lower right corner. It brings up a mouse properties window, but I cannot find anywhere showing "disable". Could you tell me which tab you're talking about? Also when I "right" click the icon, it displays "mouse properties, easy launcher, about, and remove icon". I don't see any "disable" either.

To be sured we're using same driver, the filename I downloaded is R89598.EXE (2389 KB).

Yes, that is the latest ALPS Software, a square icon that reacts to touchpad or button use, by the clock, but;

will open with a "disable" functions page only "if you have touchpad/stick combo" otherwise
just open tabs to select "Tap Off When Typing"as well as "Hide Cursor When Typing".

Also has ability to set "sensitivity" so low that it will hardly work at all
(mine is always at max sensitivity).
