Display Device Selection in BIOS?

I have been trying to fix a problem I am having with my i8500 display settings, and am wondering if it is a hidden BIOS setting.  For background info on the problem, please see my posts in the Video forum:

I have 5 or 6 posts on the first 2 pages.  You will see on the secong page that I posted information on this setting being available in the PHOENIX BIOS (older DELL BIOS), but not in the newer DELL BIOS.

I have upgraded my BIOS to A05, and that did not fix the problem.  When upgrading the BIOS, does it keep your setting, or reset them?  I am assuming it is keeping your settings.  So, if I reset my BIOS to default settings, will this do it:

Anyone have any other ideas about this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On your notebook isn't the Fn+F7 the sizing toggle and the Fn+F8 the CRT/LCD toggle?

I don't know about sizing toggle, but Fn + F8 is the CRT/LCD toggle.  If you read the first page of the link I provided above ( http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=insp_video&message.id=96862 ) you will see that when I hit that key combination with an external monitor attached, it never leaves the CRT state.  I am unable to get the display to switch to my LCD by this.
