Driver problem Inspiron 15 5521

Hi, I bought an Inspiron 15r 5521 base with i7 and I have installed win 7 professional 32 bit on it.

Now the driver for the wireless adapter and USB ports cannot be installed.

and the brightness adjustment keys (Fn+F4/F5) are not working. all other hotkeys are.

If I try to search for other drivers for this laptop on the website I always end up with windows 8 drivers....

Can someone please assist me?

    Hi Kahuna66,

Thank you for the information. After studying the details it appears that Intel Centrino Advanced-N 2230 Wi-Fi drivers are missing. Follow the below mentioned steps to install the drivers:

    • Click in the link: http://intel.ly/10GQWhE
    • Download the first file which is Wireless_15.8.0_Ds32.exe.
    • Follow the onscreen instruction to install the drivers.
    • Restart the system and check Device Manager.

You are also missing the Chipset Drivers. Please click on the link http://dell.to/10zmOs0 and download the drivers. Follow the onscreen instructions to install it. Restart the system and check Device Manager.

Hope this helps. Please reply with the results.

Ok, the wireless driver is working, thanks a lot for that!

    The chipset driver also installed.

But the USB is still not properly installed, and also the screen brightness cannot be adjusted.

    Hi Kahuna66,

Glad that the wireless drivers worked for you.

Please try installing the Dell Quickset Application and check if the function keys work as desired or not. Here is the link http://dell.to/18yBqtl to download the application. Follow the onscreen instructions to install it and restart the system. Check system functionality.

Also, install the USB 3.0 drivers and check if the issue gets resolved. Here is the link http://dell.to/117rhib to download the application. Follow the onscreen instructions to install it and restart the system. Check system functionality.

Hope this helps. Please reply with the results.

I installed the quickset application but no result. All keys are working except monitor brightness. there is also no difference if I switch between battery and power cord.

The USB 3.0 drivers have installed correctly, although when I plug in my external 3.0 disk, it says 'this device can perform faster'.... Yes, I have the right USB port where I plugged it in....

Thanks for your fast response, very much appreciated!!!

    Hi Kahuna66,

It appears to be an issue with the Video driver. Please share the screenshot of Device Manager with the Display Adapters expanded so that I can check for the drivers.

Also, try any other USB 3.0 device on the system and check if still get the same error shared above.

    Please reply with the information.

Here are the screenshots for the display adapter.

Here the detailed one for the internal graphic card:

and here for the AMD card:

Concerning the USB 3.0 drive, it could very well be that it is a problem of the HD supplier, verbatim. I searched on the internet and there are more who have this problem with this external hard drive. I'll try to contact verbatim first because all drivers seem to have installed correctly.

    Hi Kahuna66,

Thank you for sharing the information.

As I shared the information earlier that this system was tested with Windows 7 and Windows 8 64bit version and we do not have OEM drivers for Windows 7 32bit. However, you may go ahead and try installing the Windows 7 32bit drivers for these video cards from the manufacturer's website and check if it resolves the issue. Please install the Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers first and then for AMD Radeon HD 8730M.

Here is the link to the drivers for the Intel HD Graphics 4000: http://intel.ly/10GUFiM

Here is the link to the drivers for the AMD Radeon HD 8730M: http://bit.ly/i8NmG6

Download the AMD Mobility Radeon™ Driver Verification Tool and it will automatically search for the compatible drivers and will install it.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any questions.

the Intel drivers caused problems with internet explorer, so I restored my system. Maybe I will try to install the AMD drivers with the current intel drivers.
