Drivers for AMD HD 7730M
Hello,
From what I have been reading on the forums, this is a recurring issue (I didnt find one single thread resolved). Now I have gone into my drivers and downloads section in Dell.
I recently purchased an Inspiron 15R SE and upgraded it to Windows 8 Pro. Now when I go to my drivers and downloads, it doesnt show me any available BIOS update in the filtered list for Win 8. When I view all results, it shows BIOS A07 available. However, the video card is only for A02.
My graphics card (AMD HD 7730M) hasn't worked properly since day 1. My Catalyst Center keeps crashing and I have lost count how many times I have uninstalled and installed it.
Please note that I have tried several things:
1. Update BIOS and video drivers
2. Clean install Win 8
3. Reinstall Win 7 (factory settings) and then do an upgrade to Win 8.
I have tried beta drivers from AMD - no help. I have seen Dell advertising the same graphics card for windows 8. So I am hoping that there are actual drivers for this card with a function catalyst center.

Never got any response from Dell support...anyway...after extensive google searches and reinstalling windows twice (due to trying out several things) I finally got it working...

I had to manually uninstall the amd drivers. Fix some registry entries and then install the latest AMD beta driver. I suppose because of the step involving the regedit, the dell support might not approve of it. From memory, I am using the 12.11 beta driver for amd.
Oh and disable auto updates for the videocard/device manager. Everytime there is an autoupdate, it stops working and I have to repeat the entire process again.

How did you do ? If i coule gavé The details, i hope it would works for me too... The uninstall is ok, but The registry entries, How did you do ?

This is all well and good. If you read my opening post, I have already tried downloading the recommended software for my service tag. Maybe the links you have provided are different and probably functional. But due to the lack of response I got from tech support...I had to go to other forums and find another non-dell solution which thankfully worked. I am sticking to my solution for now. Maybe when I do a clean install of my laptop, I will think about visiting those links you provided. Appreciated nonetheless...finally got a reply ^_^

This is what I did. PLEASE read carefully and make a restore point as a fail safe. Follow the instructions to the dot and don't delete what it doesn't ask you to in the registry entries. Seeing as windows 8 no longer shows non plug and play devices, you will have to download this tool : technet.microsoft.com/.../bb963902.aspx (its a microsoft tool, in case you are worried about viruses). Comments in bold are my improvisations for windows 8. As they original post was for windows 7.
FIX:
1. Uninstall all ATI software, using AMD Catalyst Install Manager.
2. Remove AMD/ATI files from C:/Users/*You*/AppData/Local and /Roaming.
3. Check Program Files, Program Files (x86) and Program Data, remove AMD/ATI stuff.
4. Reboot into Safe Mode. In windows 8, you can do this by pressing "win key" + "r", then type msconfig. Go to the tab "boot" and check "safe boot" under "boot options"
5. Control Panel > Device Manager > enable "Show Hidden Devices": uninstall the card with removal of drivers checked, and uninstall amdkmdag under non-plug and play drivers. For this part, you will have to download autoruns tool - link mentioned above.
6. Check Device Installation Settings under control panel. Make sure you have "Never install driver software from windows update" selected. Now this is a pain in the a** as you will have to manually update device drivers. But as far I am concerned, I would rather get my graphics card working and check for drivers manually once every couple of months.
7. Reboot into normal mode.
8. Make sure Windows Update doesn't install VGA drivers! This will be taken care of if you have disabled automatic windows update and step 6 completed.
9. In registry delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI\ACE\ and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001 In windows 8, you can do this by pressing "win key" + "r", then type regedit.
10. Install Catalyst Do not use the auto detect tool. Its pointless. I downloaded the latest beta drivers and it works fine for me.
11. If now in CCC > Software, there is no Catalyst version row with number but if you want it, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001, create a new String Value, name it Catalyst_Version and give it the value what you want, for instance 12.7 Beta. I ignored this step...didn't really need it for something I am going to update manually.
Good Luck :). Before, I could only play skyrim on Low settings and a slight FPS drop. Now I am playing on ultra with ENB injectors (A type of FXAA) ^_^

12.11 is the beta driver. You can download them directly from the the AMD website. Alternately, you can download the latest driver by doing a search on this page www.amd.com/.../radeon-7700m-series.aspx
There is a drop down menu "find a driver" Just put select the appropriate category and voila - download them. Please make sure you DO NOT UPGRADE your driver but instead do a clean install of the driver. After asking around on various forums and gamers, I found this suggestion.

Make sure you graphics card is listed at the bottom under the "applicable products section"
Also you should go to intel site and update your intel chipset/hd card drivers too. The ones mentioned on my service tag were shockingly old.

Do you have any problems installing only AMD driver?
I did all the procedures and in the final it didn't install the driver directly on AMD's site.

Sorry!!
When I install the driver it stay with yellow exclamation and get with a screen 800x600.
Edit:
Need to install http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx it on windows 7?

I installed the driver amd together with driver dell and now is driver on amd and isn't dell

I deleted it and now after install the driver, it doesn't appear again

Give me a few hours. I will do a win update on my drivers (to screw it up) and then reinstall it from scratch to try and replicate your issue.
