Dual HDD capable?

Question

Title says it all; do any of the Dell laptops support two internal hard drives?  I don't think they do, but I haven't found a concrete answer yet.  Thanks.

Many of the D-series Latitudes do, but none of the current Inspirons will.

So I'd be loosing a CD-ROM drive in order to have a second HDD? If so, I'll pass on getting a Dell and just go with someone else.

You can get a new Inspiron and they have dual internal hard drives and you get to keep your internal optical drive, they have the option to choose dual 160gb for a total of 320gb or maximize to dual 250gb and you have 500gb internal space, Inspiron 1720

Yes, 1720 has 2 bays underneath for 2 hard drives. I saw it on pictures. 1. Will they be seen as 2 drives under different letters? 2. Dell currently offer a single 320GB drive (5400rpm), too, for the 1720. I think that is a typo, particulaly since I saw earlier offers of double-drives 320GB. Additionally, there may be a confusion, since some hard drives have a dual-platter design, which some may call 'dual hard drives'. Can anyone confirem that 320GB is really a single drive, probably having 2 plates inside? And if that is the case, can I later add a 2nd drive to the machine? Myself, reconfiguring BIOS, or send to a shop? What are the specs on that 320GB single drive? Cache, read/write time, latency? It is absent on 'Help me choose' pop-ups.

Eh, well, I don't really want a 17'.  The only 15' I could find with dual drives is a Toshiba.  Even then, it doesn't have the specs I want.  I know Alienware has a laptop that offers dual hard drives, but it's 17' also.  Anyone know of any 15' dual hdd laptops?
