E1505 Thermal Question

You can extend the life of your notebook by purchasing a laptop cooling pad (some even come with built-in fans); they're not that expensive and can have significant impact on keeping your notebook cooler.  One reason why your notebook may be hotter than normal might be due to the fact that you have your notebook lid closed, blocking the two ventilation areas to the left & right of the keyboard.  The hard drive is virtually just beneath the right ventilation area, and if that's blocked, it would probably cause the notebook to run hotter than normal.  Running on battery power will also add to the temperature, since the battery emits its own heat.  But again, you can alleviate most of these effects with a cooling pad (google: laptop notebook cooling pad to find one).

 

Also, I recommend purchasing an extended warranty when it comes to laptops; parts are more expensive to replace, and their life-spans can be potentially shorter.
