E1505 Video Upgrade?

Question

I Have a E1505 with The X1300 Video (128MB) In My Laptop. I upgrade The OS To Vista And It Does Not Seem To Handle The Graphics To Well. Am I Able To Upgrade The Video? If So Is It An Easy Swap Or Is It Something I Just Have To Deal With?   Thanks For The Input!

The only upgrade is to an X1400; the card is proprietary to Dell. Dell Spare Parts 1-800-449-3355 ext 7269937

The nVidia 7300 is a downgrade in speed from the ATI X1300. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6400/en/sm/video.htm#wp1006368

Thanks for the reply! What about the 256mb Nvidia 7300 Video Card? Also where can a get a visual description on how to replace the card? I can't seem to find one?   Thanks Again!

I wouldn't bother switching. Those are all very low end, and I can't see spending money to go from one to the other.

What about going from the X1300 128mb to the X1400 256mb? is there much gain? is it worth it?   Thanks!

The X1400 is a reasonable boost from the X1300, as long as you're not looking for high-end gaming performance. If you are, it won't do and you'll need to consider a high end XPS (M1710 now, coming soon, the M1730) notebook.

Be careful about main memory ! I have your notebook, same graphics, running Vista. You will need 2GB of main memory, because the f..... graphics card will grab up to 831MB of main memory for 'Hypermemory' !!!! Complaining about this to DELL did not give any positive result. There are many complaints about this 'feature' (not bug ....) in this forum. The proprietary DELL driver does NOT allow to limit the amount of main emmory used. I upgraded main memory in my machine, because with original 1GB the graphics card used 381MB of it. So Vista was very sluggish.   Better stay with XP.   When buying new notebook, make shure, that the video driver or BIOS allows limiting the max. amount of main memory. DELL does not have this feature.   Will be interesting to see, when this comment is deleted from forum .....
