e7450 overheating

Immediately to the right of the scratch pad and beneath the keyboard is extremely hot on my E7450.  The battery has been pulled and is not as hot as the above mentioned surface.  What could be generating this heat and how can it be reduced?  No vents are blocked and the CPU is not consuming more than 5% on average.

Hi gcrew,

I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the system. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the BIOS from BIOS section onto the system and install it.

Also, please run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.
