External keyboard backslash not working

I have a D600 and when I plug in an external keyboard it does not recognise the backslash key.
I also have noticed that the Shift key does not remain depressed while I am holding it down, this is only an internittent problem.

The backslash never works though and I am starting to get frustrated. All of the keyboard and locale settings are correct.

Thanks

I have tried it with a number of different keyboards. I have tried connecting the keyboards in a different way (ie usb vs using a ps2 keyboard with a usb adapter

Auriana,

Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum.

Have you tried more than one brand of external keyboard?

Auriana,

I’m not sure why only your backslash key would not work, even when you use an external keyboard.
Did you change the keyboard language settings or anything like that?

Does the backslash work when you run the Dell diagnostic program?
